Automation Specialist Job Summary
Our client is a rising star in the gas pipeline industry. They are in growth mode with several large capital projects underway and need an Automation Specialist to work in west Texas and eastern NM. In this capacity, you will be responsible for the operational acceptance, QA/QC, maintenance and testing of various local automation systems and will work with 3rd party contractors to ensure PLC and RTU software is delivered on time and accurate to specifications and standards.

Automation Specialist Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interpreting P&ID's and instrumentation drawings to assist in implementing software solutions.
  • Assist in testing and implementing SCADA/DCS system logic and graphic screens.
  • Analyze and develop SCADA/DCS data gathering processes including data protocols, data configuration, point-to-point data checkout, and data archival systems.
  • Assist with the planning of SCADA/DCS system expansion projects.
  • Maintain control system program backups and configuration documentation.
  • Assist with archive data retrieval for performance monitoring and incident investigations as requested.
  • Assist ITC maintenance associates with field device troubleshooting and routine equipment testing/calibration.
  • Respond to after-hours call outs related to control system issues as required.

Automation Specialist Position Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering is a plus but not required.
  • 3 - 7+ years of relevant experience in automation systems integration and design.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley software and hardware is a must.
  • Midstream Gas Plant experience is strongly preferred, must have background in O&G.
  • Experience in automation systems design, implementation, and testing.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems and automation technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Certification in control system technologies, such as ISA, is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • PlantPAx experience is a plus.
