Job description

Job Title: Director of Surgical Services

Location: Pasadena, TX

Shift: Full-Time, Variable Shifts (12-Hour Shifts), 3 Shifts Per Week (36 Hours Total)

Salary Range: $113,963 - $142,459 per year, based on experience

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Surgical Services to lead and manage our perioperative team, ensuring safe patient care and operational excellence. The Director will have 24/7 accountability for the surgical services department, overseeing all aspects of operations, quality care, and patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and resolve real/potential issues affecting the surgical services department, with consistent follow-through and communication

Actively participate in hospital-wide and departmental committees, providing regular updates and feedback

Enhance the customer experience in surgical services through innovative and evidence-based practices

Coach and mentor staff, providing constructive feedback and development plans, while documenting performance

Ensure compliance with Human Resources policies and procedures

Communicate key departmental, organizational, and industry updates to staff

Foster positive employee engagement practices and build strong relationships with staff, physicians, and other stakeholders

Participate in patient and staff rounding, identifying and mentoring potential future leaders

Develop and maintain standards of care, ensuring consistent regulatory and accreditation compliance

Lead an ongoing surgical services program, ensuring high-quality patient care aligned with the hospital's mission

Manage fiscal responsibilities, including budgeting and capital equipment requests, while optimizing the department's financial resources

Drive growth strategies, including expanding services and introducing new technologies or programs

Oversee performance improvement (PI) programs to monitor and evaluate critical aspects of patient care

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Nursing (required)

Masters degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred)

3+ years of recent leadership experience in an acute care surgical services department, with a focus on the operating room (required)

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (required)

Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) certification (preferred)

Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) certification (preferred)

Experience managing a surgical services department with 10+ operating rooms, robotic surgery, and complex case loads
