POSITION:
Advanced Practice Providers ( PA)
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Nurse Manager / Facility Administrator
SUPERVISED BY:
Facility Administrator, Physicians
INTERRELATIONSHIPS:
Maintains open communication with doctors, clinical employees and administrative employees.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Medical ER APP is responsible for providing direct patient care to walk-in patients of all ages (infants to geriatrics) in a emergency room. This role must effectively diagnose and provide treatments for a wide range of patient needs. Our ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with an ER physician for more critical cases as well as working independently by using their critical thinking skills to assess and begin treatment for patients quickly.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year experience as physician assistant
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Licensure to practice as a PA in the State of Texas
CPR/BLS Certification required.
ACLS Certification encouraged.
PALS Certification encouraged.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Basic Computer knowledge
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Additional languages preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiar with community resources.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Possible Exposure to wet, humid conditions(non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
Risk of radiation.
MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:
Telephone System, Computer/tablets, Copy Machine/Fax/Scanner, Ventilator, IV Pump, Lab Equipment (Birofire, Medonic, Alere, Sofia, Piccolo) Defibrillator, ePower (EMR), Suction Devices and Oxygen Tanks

PERFORMANCE/PROFICIENCY STANDARDS
Performance standards are integrated within the position responsibilities. The principal functions of the position identified shall not be considered as a complete description of all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
Provides direct patient care by evaluating the medical complaint or current symptoms.
Responsibilities will include the creation of accurate record of physical findings, formulation of treatment plan and prognosis based on patient condition.
This role will also include prescribing and recommending medications or other forms of treatment.
Recognizes and effectively treats life-threatening conditions.
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments. This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in the formation of the plan of care.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection prevention, and control standards.
Records all patient medical care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in appropriate format.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and current literature; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Medical Director.
