Volt is immediately hiring Principal Systems Engineer in Richardson, TX

As Principal Systems Engineer you will:
We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our systems engineering team. Our Engineers support technical direction and design to software agile development teams, and other Engineering personnel. They perform technical analyses and define how the system works creating use cases, system capability and feature designs, defining system interfaces and acceptance criteria. In this role, you will provide engineering support for the implementation of a portion of the program's systems engineering. To succeed in this role, you must have systems engineering development lifecycle experience using an Agile methodology.

What You Will Do
• Collaborate with the multi discipline engineering teams to design and develop software
• Assist in providing technical information and clarification during the entire software development Lifecyle, from conceptualization and design to development, testing, deployment, and operations
• Perform solution decomposition from customer epics, to capabilities, to features, to stories according to SAFe Agile practices
• Apply systems engineering expertise to feature designs to reduce overall risk to the software development effort
• Engage with SMEs from other disciplines to fully understand the solution and document the designs.

This is a 12 Month full time Contract or Contract to hire opportunity.

This position requires Active Top Secret / SCI Clearance.

The Ideal candidate will have:
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations; or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 6 years' experience
• Demonstrated system engineering and technical experience with software systems development
• Experience in agile software development activities, including system level design specification and integration test and verification activities (full SE life cycle)
• Domain experience in IC GEOINT, including familiarity with common GEOINT still imagery data formats
• Experience in development of ICDs, APIs, and system specifications as a primary author
• Experience using the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence
• Experience in cloud or cloud-hybrid deployment environments
• Ability to interact effectively with customer and consumer communities for technical exchange meetings and design briefings
• Experience working in an Agile development team environment with multi-discipline engineers and stake holders, developing system solutions to meet customer requirements, requirements decomposition, and experience with CONOPS development
• Experience working on teams addressing solution definition, decomposition, design and acceptance criteria
• Experience in development of containerized software system architectures
• Ability to function independently in the development and revisions of existing ICDs, APIs, and system specifications in response to contract mods
• Program experience with requirements development and/or requirements maintenance

Qualifications We Prefer:
• Experience with streaming data formats including Full Motion Video and Moving Target Indicator data
• Strong communications skills to support technical exchange meetings and design briefings
• Engineering experience working in the full software development lifecycle using Agile methodology that ensures high quality software is built and released to end-users quickly and within cost and schedule parameters
• Experience using MBSE processes and tools to capture systems design and elaboration in Cameo or similar tools
• Domain experience with active data types supported by NSGPDDs
• Thorough understanding of the 12 Factor App concepts for service development
• Strong experience with Confluence as a communications medium.

Pay Range: $95.00 - $105.00 per hour.

Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
