As an Associate Category Manager, you'll manage all business-related activities related to specified expense and asset categories and the associated maintenance expenses. NOTE: category is defined as goods, services, or both.

We are looking for:
- 2+ years of experience in category management, procurement, or related area

What is the work?
Management:
- Manages a set of specific expense categories and capital categories
- Participates in / learns procurement processes associated with assigned category
- Develops and reviews Requests for Proposals (RFPs) with assistance
- Handles cost negotiation with vendors / service providers with assistance from other leaders and manages all procurement functions
- Communicates and works collaboratively with all affiliated Departments

Analytics:
- Applies intermediate analytics skills and category knowledge
- Assists with reviews of financial data and maintenance of documentation and records to create budgets and capital plans for assigned categories.
- Drives financial results by constantly assessing category performance to lower costs while maintaining H-E-B standards
- Responds to / resolves financial issues related to category billing
- Escalates unresolved financial issues to higher level

What is your background?
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 2+ years of experience in category management, procurement, or related area
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Associate Category Manager?
- Working knowledge of budgeting and expense tracking / controls and return on investment (ROI)
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Analytical and project management skills
- Verbal / written communication and presentation skills
- Organization and time-management skills
- Negotiating and influencing skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects / tasks; attention to detail
- Ability to work complex issues with senior management

Can you
- Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment
- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
- Work extended hours; sit for extended periods
- Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more
