As a Health Benefits Plan Manager, you'll develop and manage the end-to-end administration of low to moderately complex benefits plans, provide guidance to project teams, and support project progress and vendor relationships to ensure successful delivery of plan member benefits. You'll serves as a subject matter expert for your assigned benefit plans, and will advise plan members and Partners on plan design, programs, and services.

What is the work?
Advising / Management:
- Administers / manages benefits plans of low to moderate complexity
- Conducts / participates in benefits surveys
- Reviews policies and programs
- Supports development of new plan designs
- Projects costs and reviews day-to-day expenses to ensure programs meet budget plan; identifies cost reduction initiatives
- Assists with benefits RFP process for assigned programs
- Counsels management; interprets legal / procedural compliance standards related to assigned programs
- Prepares / reviews recommendations to resolve day-to-day vendor, member issues
- Resolves member issues or escalates appropriately
- Serves as liaison to support policies related to benefit programs; provides guidance / direction in plan interpretation, consistent with plan design and documentation
- Consults with Partners / HR team regarding benefits plans, processes, and policies
- Recommends changes to benefits plans, processes, policies; re-evaluates vendors to ensure competitiveness; participates in annual plan design review process
- Ensures vendors meet service level agreements
- Reviews member issues; recommends escalation to review by internal and / or external legal counsel
- Presents benefit program information to internal audiences, including plan members, HR leaders, Admins, and wellness champions

Project Management:
- Supports benefit projects and / or leads specific initiatives for assigned projects
- Coordinates activities involving communication, implementation, and modification of existing benefits plans
- Develops / conducts benefits education and training programs
- Coordinates crisis management / intervention activities in consultation with external vendors and company leadership
- Supports plan implementation activities

Analytics:
- Analyzes plan member demographics / claim data to support program recommendations
- Reviews costing models to support recommendations regarding benefits plans and changes
- Researches / analyzes industry trends, surveys, and best practices to help identify best benefits offerings for H-E-B plan members
- Researches / evaluates third-party providers; participates in new provider selection / implementation

What is your background?
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or comparable experience
- 3+ years of benefits, public health, or health care related experience

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as a Benefits Plan Manager at H-E-B?
- Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations
- Knowledge of health care and employment laws, through applicable course work or experience
- Knowledge of accounting and finance principles
- Strong written / verbal communication and presentation skills
- Intermediate skills in PeopleSoft
- Intermediate analytical, organization, and project management skills
- Negotiation and influencing skills
- Collaboration skills
- MS Office application skills
- Ability to work at all levels of management
- Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential issues
