Job description

Duties Incumbent uses experience and knowledge of global force management (GFM) processes of assignment, allocation, and apportionment to perform a variety of administrative and analytical duties directly related to ARNORTH resources. Work involves participation with joint forces and combined operations in support of homeland defense and civil support to execute assigned missions, exercises, contingencies and operations. Coordinates with action officers in the Joint Staff and other assigned Army units to ensure Global Force Management (GFM) processes aligns force assignment, apportionment and allocation methodologie. Performs a variety of duties to ensure that GFM policies and procedures are developed and are applied. Prepares and coordinates force rotations and emergent requirement actions needed to support the GFM process. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 5, Special Sensitive, Top Secret security clearance. Position may include additional program security requirements in order to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is designated as a key position. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours. Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregularly tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts, and weekends. This position may require the incumbent to work overtime. Overtime may be required on short notice. Incumbent must be able to maintain proficiency and situational awareness in the areas of Homeland Defense and Civil Support and may be required to continue or complete formal and informal training . This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Current Department of Army Civilian Employees In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience : One year of specialized experience which includes providing qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of critical command plans or programs participating in or conducting major operations in the areas of Homeland Defense and Civil Support and associated mission and operations, training, deployment, mobilization, Global Force Management (GFM), contingency, or similar operations; Establishing criteria to measure and/or predict the attainment of program or organizational goals and objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Strategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
