Job description

My client is a national firm specializing in planning, design, communications, management, science, and technology. They are looking for an experienced Senior Landscape Designer or Landscape Architect with a strong background in construction documentation to join their team in San Antonio, TX. Proof of current COVID-19 vaccination is required for in-office work.

Schedule: Hybrid

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Collaboration: You'll work closely with a diverse team across multiple offices, focusing on projects related to community and environmental design for various sectors, including parks and recreation, youth facilities, and public and private sector projects.

  • Project Scope: Your work will include park planning and design, landscape design for public/private buildings, trail development, streetscape and plaza design, campus master plans, children's play environments, and community engagement. Equity and inclusion are central to the projects.

  • Project Execution: Depending on the project, you will either lead or support tasks such as site analysis, design, construction detailing, planting plans, and aesthetic detailing. You may manage projects, direct internal teams, oversee client communication, and ensure timely project delivery. Your role could also include producing construction document sets, coordinating with sub-consultants, and attending client meetings.

The company works on projects across the U.S., so occasional travel, as well as evening or weekend work, may be required. We emphasize work-life balance and offer flexibility to offset extra hours when needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture (Master's is a plus) with strong professional experience in consulting or landscape design, particularly with construction documents and project management.
  • The ability to produce high-quality construction documents and graphics.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with ArcGIS, Lumion, Revit, or Rhino is a bonus.
  • Experience with public-sector projects, compliance management, and client communication is advantageous.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with marketing and business development, including proposal creation and maintaining client relationships, is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to equity and inclusion, and the ability to build respectful relationships with community members and partners.
  • Comfortable presenting to the public, leading meetings, and facilitating discussions with stakeholders.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make a meaningful impact on diverse projects that prioritize community and sustainability.
