PRINCIPAL PRODUCT OWNER

The Role

We re looking for a collaborative, team-focused, knowledgeable Product Owner with phenomenal interpersonal skills with experience in delivery. Ensuring the backlog is prioritized, engaging actively with the teams, guiding towards solutions, measuring impacts, and broadcasting results to the broader organization. As a Product Owner for this team, you will ensure alignment on the “what” and “when” work is to be performed through ongoing planning and management of a roadmap. You partner and communicate with stakeholders, while simultaneously working to connect the teams to users and the broader business. This role will also be responsible for assisting with broader donor solutions area needs for tasks such as: prioritizing across team backlogs, strategic thinking and success metric analysis. You ensure releases are of high quality and implemented seamlessly by ensuring business readiness. You are committed to developing others and yourself to ensure the latest thinking and knowledge is integrated into the culture of the squad.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 6-10+ years product ownership or program management experience

  • A passion for innovation and big picture thinking, while also being able to comprehend and communicate details of feasibility and delivery

  • A background in agile methodologies at scale

  • Experience with value-based priority method

  • Ability to establish what the project will create, for whom, and why

  • Leads with the problem rather than solution to identify key features

  • Gathers input about features to be produced, understand the relative value of those features

  • Ability to translate cross functional business goals, epics and user stories for an Agile team

  • Creates Product Backlog prioritized based on value, size, risk, and other relevant considerations

  • Provides the team with as much context and detail as required to deliver the features committed to the iteration

  • Encourages the team to take ownership for their commitments without sacrificing quality or sustainable pace

  • Supports the team and iteration commitments, and provides transparency when plans need to change

  • Inspects features produced at the end of each iteration; identifies ways to improve business value

  • Reprioritizes backlog from iteration to iteration, in response to insights about opportunities, constraints, risks

  • Decides when to release software to the market / customer(s)

  • Maintains clear release criteria (dates and / or functionality) and Release Burndown Chart; and shares this with the team and stakeholders

  • Engages with the team throughout the iteration; provide input and feedback

  • Comfort with emerging technologies, assessing new opportunities and engaging with creative thinkers passionate for how technology is best used to make giving easier and impactful

  • Agile project team experience

  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting to senior audiences and stakeholder management

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Comfort with context switching across donors, advisor, prospect, reps and non-profits

  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and tackle big challenges!

  • Engagement with broader Fidelity Charitable staff to identify and deliver platform enhancements that drive user experience and donor results

  • Work with business and agile team(s) to define a strategy to support a test and learn environment that values data driven decision making and continual improvement

  • Work closely with agile team to define initiative roadmap, prioritize backlog(s), and define a Minimum Viable Product

  • Serve as Product Owner throughout agile process, ensuring user stories and business acceptance criteria meet business requirements and user expectations
