Job Description:

As a Waterproofing Sales Estimator, you will oversee all aspects of the bidding, estimating and selling of a new project. Tasks include preconstruction services such as salesmanship, estimating, pricing, takeoff, follow-ups, client relations, analyzing drawings, specifications and addenda's, project handoff meetings, subcontract review and other preconstruction services required. The Waterproofing Sales Estimator will need to bid multiple projects at one time using Alpha's proven sales/estimating system & model.

Responsibilities:

Reports to the Director of Sales.

Promote the company by attending trade association functions and cultivates customer relations through various means such as lunches, golf, fishing / hunting outings and personal visits.

Review bid invites to determine if the project will be bid or not.

Perform construction document analysis, takeoffs and pricing using Alpha proven sales/estimating system & model.

Prepare detailed standardized proposals/bids and submit to clients. Place all bid information in the Sales database and retain it for future reference.

Analyze drawings, specifications and addenda to determine full scope of work. Anticipate jobsite working conditions such as working heights and difficulty of material installation and reviews take-offs and pricing worksheets with estimation team as required.

Attend pre-bid meetings and forward minutes and pertinent information to the estimation team. Attend weekly sales meetings to review the status of new and completed bids and to receive new assignments.

Follows up on bids by contacting customers.

Build strong client relationships and rapport to help boost & close sales.

Reviews contract verifying scope and contractor conditions.

Perform job file bookings & handoff meeting when awarded the bid. This includes creating a field use takeoff drawing set.

Assist with project management functions as needed.

Assist the Operations team with Evaluate RFIs, PCOs and drawing changes for cost impacts as needed.

Assist the Operations team with Estimating and pricing drawing changes & cost impacts as needed.

Assist in preparing submittals for review and approval as needed

Compute cost factors exercises and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work, discussing and preparing change orders as they occur, comparing & selecting vendors, manufacturers and sub-contractors to determine cost effectiveness.

Confer with Production team to assess requirements regarding scheduling, manpower, materials, deliveries, equipment and machinery, and logistics at the start of a project or for each new scope of work.

Communicate with product manufacturer/vendor representatives, suppliers and clients.

Research the technology and materials used to comprehend questions from architects and contractors.

Conduct job site visits as needed.

Interface with general contractor or customer to address questions or concerns with application procedures, scheduling or quality of work. Initiate timely documentation to the contractor concerning job site conditions and issues in order to prevent conflict or delay as needed.

Consult with clients, vendors or other individuals to discuss and resolve issues.

Continually conduct special studies or audits to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data that effect cost reductions. Review job costing to evaluate estimate quantities and production rates and uses and shares information captured from lessons learned for future improvement.

Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.

Review back-log status and potential slow period fill-in work needs. Identify business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.

Submit reimbursement requests, mileage reports and time off requests.

Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance; must meet insurability standards.

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university (preferred)

Experience using Microsoft Office programs and takeoff software.

2 years experience as a superintendent, project manager, or estimator in the commercial construction industry preferred. Division 7 experience preferred, but not required.

Physical demands:

Occasional sitting and verbal communication or listening.

Frequent manual dexterity required.

Regular standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling.

Lifting objects up to 10 lbs. regularly, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.

Essential vision abilities include close and distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.

Proficiency in reading, writing, and presenting information effectively.

Strong mathematical skills, including probability, statistics, geometry, and practical applications.

Regular sitting and manual tasks, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, or climbing.
