Overview:
The 4Kids4Families CANS Assessor performs complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing an agency program and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the general public. May provide guidance to others.

Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Schedule, coordinate and conducts the CANS assessment interviews in the child's home, community or via telehealth.
Conduct the assessment at a location and time which is most convenient for the child and family and may be outside of regular business hours.
Arrange formal interpreter services as needed.
Integrate information into the CANS assessment from multiple sources by conducting interviews with children and with family/caregivers and incorporating information as appropriate from the referral source, treatment providers, school, rater observations and record reviews.
Utilize a person-centered approach in all processes, including the interviews (i.e. conversational style that is individualized, empathetic and empowering.).
Review research, evaluations and literature on the use of and administration of the CANS assessment.
Provide input and recommendations on current policies and processes to the Texas Child-Centered Care implementation team to ensure a smooth transition to the Texas Child-Centered Care System.
Document all case activity as per program requirements.
Enter all assessment information into the eCANS web-based application.
Document resulting recommendations in the DFPS IMPACT system.
Communicate CANS results to the child's placement team.
Provide guidance and technical assistance to CPS and CPI staff on the goals, use of and outcomes of the CANS assessment.
Work to resolve any disputes with agency staff related to the results and recommendations from the CANS assessment.
Serve as liaison to DFPS staff and creates job aids and other educational materials to ensure CPS, CPI and other DFPS staff's understanding of the CANS and placement process.
Serve as the agency Subject Matter Expert for the CANS assessment and Texas Child-Centered Care System to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and Child Care Licensing Standards.
Interpret State and Federal regulations, Child Care Licensing Standards and program policy.
Research deficiencies and makes recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
Monitor CANS reports to ensure children, youth and young adults are receiving CANS assessments on a determined frequency and within expected timeframes.
Monitor, reviews and evaluates personal monthly job productivity to meet or exceed expectations.
Provide input and recommendations on developing and/or revising CANS policy and procedure manuals.
Prepare various reports as requested.
Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.
May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Business, Statistics, or related field required. Child welfare experience with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the management of quality and improvement programs, data analysis, and/or risk management preferred. Must complete CANS initial and annual certification requirements through the Praed Foundation.
