Job description

Job Title: System Administration Essential Job Functions: Adhere to DoDD 8140, The Defense Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) and DoD 8570 when filling roles to complete the duties/tasks stated below. This includes required KSAs associated with each work role as stated in the DCWF as well required certifications per DoD 8570. Typical DCWF work roles and associated codes for these duties include System Administrator (DCWF code 451 and DoD 8570 IAT-II) and Database Administrator (DCWF code 421 and DoD 8570 IAT-II). Participate in the implementation of system monitoring components including new servers, software and upgrades to include installation, upgrade, support and troubleshooting of monitoring systems.
Log all requests for assistance and all deficiencies upon discovery, and track solutions, in the Government approved trouble ticketing system. Complete monthly a minimum of 80% of all change/trouble tickets in each trouble ticket priority (Low, Medium or High). Low is defined as assigned within 24 hours; completed within 48 hours of being assigned. Medium is assigned within 4 hours; completed within 8 hours of being assigned. High is assigned within 1 hour; completed within 2 hours of being assigned. A status update for each open ticket will be annotated in the ticket database upon a change of status, or if no change of status occurs, monthly. Include an explanation of ticket status for tickets remaining open from one month to the next in the contractor's monthly status report. Deviation from required timelines shall be coordinated with and approved by Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). The Government estimates a total of approximately 425 - 450 tickets per year.
Administer locally and remotely the following: backup systems, virtualization, storage and patch management of local and remote network appliances (i.e., hardware, virtual platforms and applications.
Analyze, log, track and resolve complex software/hardware matters pertaining to networking connectivity issues, printers, servers, infrastructure and applications to meet customer needs.
Coordinate hardware and software testing, installations and upgrades to ensure monitoring is properly performed IAW current policy.
Coordinate and monitor troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common monitoring system problems and document monitoring system events to ensure continuous function.
Ensure installations are IAW established local procedures.
Configure, track and maintain server room capacity.
Manage equipment moves while in compliance with Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE) management.
Coordinate modifications to equipment after asset and configuration manager approval.
Submit any proposed modifications or deviations to the architectural baseline to the configuration manager for waiver or deviation approval prior to execution of any architecture modification.
Comply with existing Change Management strategies and existing baseline change management processes and procedures.
Maintain as-built drawings at a Government-provided centralized site, update the drawings as configuration changes occur, inspect the drawings submitted by others and provide a list of discrepancies to the configuration manager. All discrepancies shall be reported to the CIO and COR, and corrected.
Maintain detailed rack diagrams.
Coordinate any equipment moves to and from server racks and annotate updates within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and rack diagrams.
Centrally manage server hardware, operating systems and applications, provided for TNET.
Provide routine application patching and upgrade management for operating systems and commercial applications (i.e., Java, Microsoft Office, etc.)
Maintain the application operating requirements, configuration control information (i.e., version and vendor Point of Contact).
Maintain audit logs for no less than 365 days (or as space allows) for all servers and monitoring systems. The Contractor shall make logs immediately available to the Government upon request.
Provide support to users in the development of technical specifications for system requirements (e.g. sizing of storage to meet service levels).
Audit system event and error logs to identify weak configurations and security vulnerabilities. Report findings upon discovery to the ISSM, CIO and COR. Correct deficiencies upon CIO approval.
Evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair Windows and non-Windows based servers, workstations and laptops. Any repairs requiring external support must be coordinated and approved by the Government. Contractor may be required to provide assistance to third-party vendors.
Perform data recovery from backups and from damaged data storage devices.
Administer storage area networks, Network Attached Storage (NAS) (EMC VNX and Data Domain), and tape back-up (Quantum Scalar) ensuring proper allocation to users and proper archival strategies.
Administer the following server technologies: Cisco Unified Computing System, Linux high performing computing, HP, Dell, VMware ESXi, Azure,Crestron and Citrix.

Supervisory Responsibility: None Work Environment: This job operates in a professional classroom and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone, keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install/repair computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Workdays do not include working or conducting business on Federal holidays or when the Government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government directed closings.
