Job ID: 22612 The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) supports a variety of missions, including NASA's vision to reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind and the Department of Defense's aim to protect our nation on the ground, in the air, and in space. Our sensors, satellites, software systems, and science and engineering play an essential role in some important missions you've heard of, and others that you haven't. Join our team in our seventh decade of delivering mission success. We are seeking a student to assist in thermal vacuum and space simulation activities as an Engineering Assistant. The selected candidate will play a critical role in helping manage thermal vacuum operations, chamber cleanliness/performance tasks, and report generation. Required Qualifications: Must be a USU student majoring in science or engineering Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer Self-motivated and able to follow directions Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work efficiently in a time sensitive environment while managing multiple tasks and projects Demonstrates curiosity and is an active learner General background in math and physics Experience working in a laboratory setting using PPE and following procedures Experience with and proficiency using Excel to generate graphs and manipulate data Strong verbal and written communications skills Must have the ability to work effectively independently Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or other U.S. person Preferred Qualifications: Sophomore level or higher Student Scholar Program: SDL provides unique opportunities for student employees, such as hands-on experience and our Student Scholar program.
