Summary

Supports the can manufacturing operations by ensuring that all production equipment operates efficiently and is well-maintained. The technician will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair both mechanical and electrical components of equipment, including high-speed machinery used in can-making processes. This role requires expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly automated environment.

Key Responsibilities


Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues on high-speed can manufacturing machines, conveyor systems, and packaging lines.
  • Perform root cause analysis on breakdowns and equipment failures.
  • Adjust and calibrate machinery to ensure optimal performance.

Electrical Maintenance:

  • Repair and install electrical systems, wiring, circuits, motor control centers, and other electrical components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to maintain automated systems.

Mechanical Maintenance:

  • Repair, maintain, and adjust mechanical components such as bearings, gears, chains, and belts on production machinery.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Use precision measuring tools to maintain equipment tolerances and alignment.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:

  • Execute preventive maintenance activities to reduce machine downtime.
  • Use predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.) to detect potential equipment issues before failures occur.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in safety audits and contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to workplace safety.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with production teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure production goals are met.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other maintenance staff to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.

Shift: The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills and must be flexible enough to work a rotating 2-2-3 shift and overtime as needed. Day shifts are from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, and night shifts are from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electro-Mechanical Technology, or equivalent experience with
  • 3+ years of experience in a maintenance or electro-mechanical role within a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably in can manufacturing.
  • Must have Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, calipers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and machinery.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as required.
