General Purpose

The VP, Customer & Community Affairs has responsibility for customer, public and community objectives in support of company strategic goals and business objectives. This role directs regional business managers and develops strategies to grow and maintain existing business relationships in Rocky Mountain Power's service territory. Additionally, this role will work closely with the executive leadership of other business unites to identify and support the development of new business or resource opportunities in Utah Wyoming and Idaho. The position also has responsibility for assessing and implementing (with affected business units) creative strategies in the areas of community relations, government affairs, and stakeholder engagement. This position will serve as a key company spokesperson and as a principal contact for business leaders, government, and community leaders. Manages and allocates financial and employee resources.

Responsibilities
  • Identifies, manages, and develops, and leverages internal and external relationships with a wide to advance the company's strategic objectives.
  • Promote a customer first culture and commit to delivering outstanding results for customers.
  • Spearheads the work of the Regional Business Managers with major industrial customers and communities.
  • Manage leadership of regional business manager group focused on customer support, identifying opportunities, and resolving concerns of key customers, regulators, and communities assigned to the team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow and develop new business opportunities in Utah Idaho and Wyoming in collaboration with other company business units.
  • Build coalitions with counterparts at other utilities, other industries, industry groups, professional associations and community organizations to advance the company's strategic objectives.
  • Establishes and demonstrates appropriate level of communications with key level government officials, business leaders and industrial customers.
  • Maintains executive level presence at significant company, community, government and business events.
  • Develops and implements governmental affairs, community outreach, business development strategies in collaboration with other company business units to advance strategic objectives
  • Act as an official company spokesperson with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and agencies in Rocky Mountain Power's service territory
  • Collaborate with other company business units to address and solve stakeholder problems and concerns.
  • Maintain leadership positions in key regional and influential organizations.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with community leaders, government officials and regional stakeholders.
  • Manage and allocate financial and employee resources
  • Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, and salary and budget administration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of directly related professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in people management.
  • Advanced communications skills to listen effectively; to transmit information accurately, understandably and persuasively; and to actively seek feedback.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events; to draw conclusions; and to make recommendations for action.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build sustained working relationships.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to direct the activities of individuals or teams toward the accomplishment of goals.
  • Knowledge of the utility industry required; existing regulatory and stakeholder contacts desirable.
  • Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently; utility customer support and/or program management desirable.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 40.00% of salary.
