Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Tier 3 Program Coordinator, and with ongoing training from program consultant(s), provide substitute planning and support, assist with program initiatives including special projects and activities, wellness, training, and provide individualized support services to assigned youth who have significant social, behavioral, and emotional needs.
Essential Duties:
Substitute Support and Coordination:
Coordinate with the Tier 3 Program Manager and Case Managers to prioritize substitute coverage, including communicating and assigning available substitute staff. This will involve some early morning and evening communication.
Provide support and services to clients in the absence of the assigned Behavior Interventionist, including providing one-on-one substitution in the absence of a BI.
Develop and implement support options, in collaboration with Case Managers, for clients in the absence of the assigned Behavior Interventionist.
Establish a process for developing, tracking and regularly reviewing individual client sub plans.
Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with school partners and client team members.
Provide support, training and guidance for available staff there are no substitute needs for staff to fill.
Provide planning support for program initiatives and activities.
Under the direction of the Program Director and T3 Program Coordinator, assist with the coordination of various program activities and functions such as wellness, staff meetings, in-service, recognition, etc.
Provide supports for summer programming initiatives such as scheduling, planning and communication.
Other duties as assigned.
Administrative:
Collect and maintain ongoing data related to services provided and required by school partners (ABC sheets, reports, graphs, etc.)
Ensure the timely completion of billing and compliance related documentation as assigned and within identified deadlines.
Participate in a variety of meetings, as assigned (Staff meetings, team meetings, treatment team meetings, etc.).
Actively engage in ongoing professional development such as agency, program, team or individual trainings that will enhance and expand treatment knowledge.
Direct Services:
Provide 1-on-1 service in school and community to identified clients.
Provide direct supervision, supportive counseling, social skill building and daily living skills to identified clients and manage the physical safety of assigned clients.
Provide transportation to and from community activities, mental health appointments, and when necessary, school for clients.
Communicate with family and school partners as directed, appropriately advocate for clients and families.
Prepare and respond to Tier 3 client and staff crises, in coordination with case managers and Tier 3 Program Manager.
Work independently and as a team member.
Therapeutic/Behavioral System:
Communicate behavioral data to appropriate treatment and education providers.
Defer complex issues to the Tier 3 Program Coordinator.
Implement behavior plans and procedures designed to address identified goals and objectives.
Use education materials provided by school, as an opportunity to teach daily living skills.
Other Duties:
Assist with onboarding and orientation of new Backpack staff.
Provide shadowing and modeling for new Behavior Staff.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field.
Experience in human services delivery in settings serving children and youth.
Valid driver's license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle required
Special Position Requirements:
Must be able to work effectively within the structure of the school while keeping Laraway ethics and conduct of behavior in mind.
Work/Physical Requirements:
Given the at-risk population served, the position requires ongoing training and preparedness in the execution of physical restraint techniques. This may require running to catch a child. The "Handle with Care" training program used articulates those individuals with back and neck limitations are likely to be hampered in the execution of the protocols and greatly increases risk to harm to self or student.
Ability to engage youth in a variety of physical activities such walking, hiking, swimming, sports, etc.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
