Job Summary:

The Yard Person/Plant Operator is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the blacktop plant's grounds and assisting in the efficient operation of the plant. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and productive working environment while adhering to company policies and industry standards.


Essential Functions:

  1. Protect Family and Friends. Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures. Upon start of work be prepared with proper PPE.
  2. Mastery. Work in a hands-on construction environment, handling blacktop and other construction materials, shoveling, operating equipment, site management, etc.
  3. Help prepare/stage materials, tools for plant maintenance projects.
  4. Oversee the handling and storage of raw materials.
  5. Follow Managers instruction to monitor plant operation throughout the day.
  6. Respect and engage. Maintain effective communication with other plant operators, supervisors, and support personnel using two-way radios and hand signals.
  7. Dedication. Maintain proper care of tools and equipment.
  8. Climb ladders and work at elevations while maintaining safe work practices.
  9. Perform Daily Workplace Exams of working areas. Clean and maintain the plant's work areas and equipment.
  10. Efficiently process customer orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness




Requirements, Education and Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Knowledge of asphalt production/crushing processes preferred.

3. Electrical and Stick/Mig Welding experience a plus

4. Strong communication skills (both verbally and written), and the ability to work well in a team.

5. Attention to detail and commitment to safety.

6. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

7. Must have a valid driver's license.

8. Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel:

Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and or a negligible amount of force constant to move objects. Job involves sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and bending for brief periods of time in all types of weather. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors.
