to support US Navy ISR projects. Job Description RESEARCH PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Development, integration, and advanced processing of state-of-the-art digital ISR sensors and data collection/processing technology. The responsibilities include:
• Working with the Navy customer to define research prototype system requirements.
• Working with Software teams to select processing hardware and interfaces to meet system requirements.
• Working with the Platform provider to define required system interfaces.
• Design, build and test the required electrical prototype components.
• Ability to design, send out to fab, integrate and test required Mechanical enclosures for electrical components.
• Design, build and test required cable assemblies for electrical prototype.
• Work with software teams to support software integration with new hardware.
• Integrate designed hardware on to customer's selected platform.
• Support Navy customer system demonstration field test events. QUALIFICATIONS: BS/MS/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and 10+ years of experience. Experience in analog and digital electronics with knowledge of signal, image, and data processing. Experience in component and system hardware electrical and mechanical design. Knowledge in several of these areas is preferred:
• Advanced experience High-Speed Printed Circuit Board design using Altium Designer.
• Ability to design multilayer PCBs with USB 3, PCI-E, Ethernet and other high-speed interfaces.
• Good knowledge of onboard PCB power supply design.
• Good knowledge of PCB to chassis connector methods to support high speed digital interfaces.
• Ability to work with PCB fabrication houses to support fabrication of the electrical turn key PCB assemblies.
• Familiar with Flex circuit designs.
• Hands on experience with integrating, troubleshooting own designed electronics.
• Hands on experience with soldering SMT components to support integration and debug of designs.
• Experience with Aerospace wiring best practices for systems.
• Hands on experience designing mechanical enclosures for electrical designs using SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Knowledge of best practices for PCB heat dissipation of electronic assemblies.
• Knowledge or experience working with EO/IR sensors.
• Knowledge of data acquisition methods for electro-optical and infrared sensors.
• Xilinx SOC FPGA hardware design using RTL in VHDL and embedded software design a plus
• Experience with embedded C/C++, Python desired.
• Experience with embedded software to interface with SPI, I2C, USB devices desired.
• Design experience with Nvidia Jetson products desired.
• Must be able to work in teams.
• Must be a self-starter, manage own schedule and work effectively with little supervision.
Position supports a US Government contract. U. S. citizenship required and ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance. Existing DOD Secret Clearance preferred. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000 - $160,000.00 per year depending on experience.
