The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E , Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S , DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future. SPA has an immediate need for a Cyber Technology Transition Support Analyst (SETA) to provide onsite support in Arlington, VA. Responsibilities The candidate will provide Reverse Engineering and Vulnerability Research expertise to help DARPA identify and implement compelling Cyber Offensive & Defensive solutions for the battlefield. Assist with strategic coordination of Cyber and Crypto efforts from the ground-up/field work through implementation. Support technology transition and research management of programs in software program analysis, computer network defense, computer network exploitation, and/or computer network attack. Provide software emulation, software vulnerability research, computer program analysis, and reverse engineering in support of cybersecurity and/or cyberspace operations automation. Lead efforts to implement compelling technologies, both new and evolving solutions, as well as the "pick-up" and integration of known/existing solutions. Support blended system engineering and security researcher teams providing vulnerability research, reverse engineering, custom tool development, testing, integration and operational support and maintenance for the development of Cyber and Crypto solutions. Plan, develop, and execute complex qualitative and quantitative research to meet stringent deadlines under high-stress situations. Support multi-disciplinary mission-oriented cyber operations analysts and developers across multiple organizations for technical solutions for complex challenges requiring coordination of efforts for various DoD and Intelligence clients. Prepare and brief analytic products and technical solutions in support of National Cyber and Cryptologic security issues. Provide significant contributions across a range of technical areas by identifying, analyzing, and developing novel technologies and methodologies for current and new program development. Provide in-depth expertise in the assessments of proposals to determine the technical merit of proposal objectives and methodologies. Develop test plans for assessment of program performers' systems. Contribute significantly across a range of technical areas by identifying and monitoring ongoing cyber threats through open source and internal data analysis. Provide a resource and means of information support for proposals to determine the technical merit of proposal objectives and methodologies.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. Qualifications Required: PhD in science and/or engineering 5+ years of relevant experience utilizing reverse engineering, vulnerability research, or similar efforts toward cyber & and crypto defense solutions Active DoD Secret clearance Experience with artificial intelligence and data science Desired: Active DoD Top Secret clearance Experience with Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (IPOE), Operational Preparation of the Environment (OPE), and/or Phase Zero and Phase One operational planning with respect to information and cyber to liaise with and support special command units Prior military service, or as an embedded contractor, supporting relevant Cyber efforts and technologies for commands such as: Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and/or other U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) entities in support of Special Operating Forces/SOF operations
