Job description
Description SAIC is hiring a Senior Forum Policy Support Analyst. The candidate must have an active Top Secret clearance. The position will support the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for China, Taiwan, and Mongolia within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (OUSD/P) with a portfolio of major Departmental activities to include direct support to Secretary of Defense and Deputy Secretary of Defense decision-making forums. The role is 100% onsite at the Pentagon. Job Responsibilities: Serve as an action officer on the Strategy, Economics, and Technology team for the OUSD/P's DASD for China, Taiwan, and Mongolia. Provide management of the China Brief, the primary forum for the Secretary of Defense and Department leadership to review and oversee China-related policies, operations, and intelligence; as well as the China Brief Management Group (CBMG), and the China Brief Executive Committee (CBEC). Support calendar and conference room management, meeting execution, read-ahead preparation, RSVPs for 40+ Senior Executives, and development of meeting minutes. Support establishing the China Brief agenda, identifying relevant topics for the forum, and working with OPRs to prepare meeting materials. Develop new approaches to address difficult subjects and lead teams of SMEs. Prepare info memos and talking points for forum chairs and principals; and compile, edit, and coordinate Read-Outs and Summaries of Conclusions for all three forums. Develop strategic guidance documents and memorandums detailing progress and way forward for the China Brief. Utilize, configure, and maintain knowledge management/decision support tools, in particular MS SharePoint, in order to track strategic actions while providing transparency, community awareness, and unity of effort throughout the Department. As needed, support tracking, executing, and reporting on various governance forums. Interact and build relationships with various DoD Components (OSD, Joint Staff, Services, others) to gather information on status of strategic initiatives; compile and analyze data; and support briefings and task development. Qualifications Required Clearance: Top Secret clearance required to start; Ability to obtain TS/SCI required to maintain employment. US citizenship required. Required Education and Experience: Bachelors and ten (10) years or more experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more of experience. Bachelor in Political Science, National Security Affairs, International Relations, International Economics, or a related field preferred. Required Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience in meeting management support including familiarity with the Pentagon, DoD organization/structure, and senior leader decision-making. 5-7 years experience with the Department of Defense and fundamentally requires an open and creative mind, the ability to conduct rigorous analysis with limited oversight from senior management, and the ability to present difficult concepts in simple terms. Excellent research and analytical skills. Experience interfacing with DoD senior leaders at the highest levels of DoD. Commitment to exceptional client service and professionalism. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and common office software applications. Background and training in the application of various knowledge management and collaborative tools including the use of MS SharePoint. Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with Service- and/or OSD-level strategy, policy, governance or resource allocation processes as a result of previous government, military and/or private sector assignments. Ability to work in a dynamic government work environment. Ability to problem-solve in a time-constrained environment and to take initiative and work independently as appropriate. Ability to prioritize tasks through strong organizational skills. SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
