Job description

As Sr Director Government Relations, you will drive initiatives to support the development and implementation of corporate policy through strategic partnerships with government and industry groups. You'll be responsible for representing the company on legislative and regulatory affairs with elected officials and government officials in regulatory agencies and ensure appropriate company participation in government forums and industry group meetings. You'll develop key relationships with designated trade and business associations, and advocacy groups on political, legislative and regulatory issues of importance to the company and ensure communications on behalf of the company are clear and consistent. You'll also monitor federal legislative proposals in order to support the assessment of opportunities available within and beyond our existing markets, offerings and business models

At SNC's Washington, D.C. office we are responsible for government affairs, international strategy, international business, and trade and regulatory compliance. We provide strategic guidance across the organization, helping to find alignment and compliance between SNC and the national security priorities of the U.S. government.

Must Haves:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field of studyRelevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education

Working knowledge and experience with government relations and affairs, legislation, grassroots advocacy, or campaign organizing experience

Experience serving as the liaison between a corporation and government with experience effectively communicating with senior executives regarding governmental policy threats and opportunities

Technical understanding of current sea-based, ground-based, air deployed and space deployed capabilities

Ability to possess a strategic mindset in order to navigate, affect, and/or lead complex initiatives with senior-level stakeholders

Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; ability to establish and develop relationships, coalitions, and partnerships with ease

Working knowledge of the Army's 6x Modernization Priorities

Experience with the Defense Acquisition System (DAS)/processes

Understanding of the Army Acquisition Ecosystem:Army Futures Command (AFC) Cross-Functional Teams (CFT)

AFC Capability Development Integration Directorates (CDID)

AFC Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Technology Centers

ASA(ALT) Program Executive Offices (PEO) + Rapid Capabilities & Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO)

Army G8 Office Structure

Understanding of Combatant Commands (COCOM)/Unified Command Plan

Effective communication skills (verbal & written)

Resourcefulness with a bias toward action

High integrity

Strong collaborator

Network of influential Army stakeholders

An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred:

Typically 12-15 years of relevant experience; 7+ years of experience working on legislative matters in the private sector, a Congressional office, or an Executive Agency

Possess a track record of delivering results by developing and implementing advocacy programs in the legislative and executive branches

Demonstrated first-hand familiarity with congressional and executive branch politics, processes, customs, and ethics

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets

Pentagon assignment experience

Experience interacting with OSD offices

Military experience

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

This position requires current/active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
