Duties This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10). While serving as an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), your duties will include: Implementing higher-level digital forensics requirements and policies such as those resulting from laws, regulations, and Presidential directives; Assessing the effectiveness, performance, and applicability of new enterprise Digital Forensics tools, contributing to evaluation, deployment, implementation, and on-going support of new highly complex systems and solutions; Developing long-range plans for digital forensics systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate changing, new technologies, and threats; Assesses new systems and design methodologies to improve digital forensics processes and the quality of analysis. Qualifications Basic Requirement: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assessing the effectiveness, performance, and accuracy of digital forensic tools; Identifying methods to evaluate, implement, and disseminate forensics tools, systems, and networks; Serving as a digital forensics technical subject matter expert maintaining up-to-date awareness of various technical knowledge domains; and Testifying as a subject matter expert in Federal and state courts of law. Knowledge and ability to perform and understand investigative implications of hardware, operating systems, network technologies, data carving tools and techniques, reverse engineering concepts, and anti-forensics tactics to perform complex digital forensics work that will stand up in legal proceedings.
