RIGHTECH is a leading nationwide provider of technical staffing services, and we are currently seeking two qualified lead data center technicians in the Ashburn corridor for a contract to hire position. The project is scheduled to start no later than 10/28.

Job Title: Lead Data Center Technician (New Construction)

Location: Ashburn, VA

Duration: 6 months contract to hire

Start Date: Monday, October 28th

Lead Data Center Technician

The primary responsibility is to support the installation of cabling infrastructure for data center builds outs.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise:

Oversee and manage all phases of cable infrastructure and fiber installation, including rough-in, dressing, labeling, termination, and splicing.

Read and interpret blueprints, ensuring installations adhere to specifications.

Manage the installation and configuration of server equipment, including rack and stack, server rack build-out, and rack elevation.

Install infrastructure components such as fiber trays, ladder racks, customer equipment, and cabinets.

Oversee material receiving, hardware assembly, and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installation into the data center.

Accountable for the safety, quality, schedule and cost on assigned projects.

Serves as main point of contact between the Project Manager and crew members.

Responsible for managing 5+ crew members on a day-to-day basis.

Understand and adhere to customer timelines.

Inspect completed work to ensure that all tasks pertaining to the installation were performed to company/customer standards.

Prepare closeout documentation for each phase of the job as completed.

Team player that coordinates and communicates activities with other employees, departments, and management.

Management and Leadership:

Effectively manage teams of 5+ personnel to complete large-scale commercial data center projects on time and within budget.

Possess experience interfacing with General Contractors and clients, managing their expectations and addressing concerns.

Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce OSHA guidelines on the job site.

Review and manage blueprint changes, submitting change orders to the Project Manager when necessary.

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED equivalency

5+ years of experience as a Data Center Technician

2+ years in a lead capacity in the data center

5+ years of experience working with fiber optic systems

Prior experience managing crews (5+ people) is a must

Active OSHA 10 certification is preferred

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work safely on ladders and scissor lifts at various heights.

Ability to work in confined spaces.

Required Tools:

Basic hand tools, Screwdriver (multi-Bit), Torpedo level, Tape measure, Snips, Pliers (needle nose and channel locks) , Cable stripper, punch down tool, modular plug crimper, Flashlight, Fish tape, Electrical tape, Impact driver, Various sizes of wood, metal and masonry drill bits, Various sizes and types of driver bits

PPE:

Safety Vest, Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, Hard Hat, Work Boots (Steel toe or composite)
