Job description
Overview: The Training Specialist for Mobile reports to the Instructional Systems Management Unit Chief and is responsible for inventory and content management of ISM controlled mobile IT equipment used for training delivery (tablets, laptops, etc.) This includes image management of hundreds of mobile devices and management of training content according to the National Achieves and Records Administration (NARA). The Specialist for mobile creates and maintains inventory records of ISM controlled technical equipment across FASTC. The Specialist prepares and manages equipment accountability forms for FASTC staff and students to assure continuous awareness of status for the entire inventory. This position is a member of the DS/TMS Management Team. This team collaborates to assure the TMS meets FASTC's needs, operates efficiently and adapts toward ongoing improvements. The Senior Technology Integration Specialist provides user permissions, course resource loading and system security functions. Both Tablet and PC imaging and TMS management are IT Systems Management functions and require system security admin training and compliance with DOS FAMs/FAHs. All Senior Technology Integration Specialist work is in accordance with the Instructional Systems Design model, the FASTC Standard Operating Procedures and FLETA standards for the Office of the Foreign Affairs Security Training Center. This position requires the incumbent to work closely with instructional designers, program offices, subject matter experts at all phases of design, delivery and follow-on support. Primary Responsibilities: Manages the operating system and application software for ISM owned non-enterprise IT equipment to include image installations, updating and modification of the software on standalone mobile devices
Performs account management on DS TMS and ISM owned non-enterprise IT equipment
Performs IT system management functions in the DS TMS including system security functions, access controls and permissions
Working with FASTC Instructional Designers, helps course developers in organizing training materials on ISM owned IT equipment to include moving content from SharePoint to PCs and Tablets
Manages physical inventory tracking of ISM IT equipment and accountability for the equipment including classroom distribution and individual accountability forms across FASTC
Tracks content that is loaded on ISM IT equipment according to NARA
Helps programmers in installing, maintaining and operating training simulations on ISM owned IT equipment
Assists instructional developers in performing functional (QA) checks of on-line and mobile content
Creates and maintains guides and basic instructions for users of ISM owned IT equipment
Performs a first tier "help desk" support for users of ISM IT equipment
Assists in the development of course materials including planning documents, student and instructor materials and course presentations
Provides weekly updates of activities to the ISM Unit chief
Prepares, edits, and maintains general MS Office documents, spreadsheets and databases
Provides project support and other administrative duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Education and/or Experience: Must have experience in instructional technology, information technology related subjects or in a criminal justice / law enforcement area, associates degree or certification preferred;
Must have at least 2 years' experience in a training environment, information technology operations or inventory management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess strong operating systems management skills
Must be proficient in the use of SharePoint
Familiarity with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures of training and course development
Excellent written and spoken command of the English language
Proficiency in Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and database management)
Thorough Microsoft Windows 10 Operating Systems skills including installs, encryption and content management
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with high accuracy
Knowledge of DOS and NIST IT System Security policies and requirements
Knowledge of Federal office management policies, practices, and procedures
Ability to work independently.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None. Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen
Possess or be able to obtain/maintain a SECRET clearance (TOP SECRET may be required).
Physical Demands: The physical demands that will be required inside the work place and for the position. Must lift, will sit, answer the phone, type on a keyboard, move files, etc. Travel: Occasional local travel (Washington DC area and mid-VA) may be required. Work Environment: Office environment.
