Job description

Description SAIC is in search of a Ground Systems Engineer to support the NRO SIGINT Directorate. Individual selected will provide subject matter expertise to support customer decisions with respect to contractors' development of spacecraft command and control capabilities and the integration with other ground capabilities that will make up an end-to-end system. Individual should have knowledge and experience in agile software development. Individual will perform the following duties (not a comprehensive list): Responsible for overseeing vendor development, integration, and test of spacecraft ground capabilities as a technical expert. Responsible for supporting end-to-end ground system development to include: o Analysis of alternatives o Requirements generation, evaluation, and compliance assessments o concept design evaluation o Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development o Oversight of delivered ground capabilities integration into larger end-to-end system. o Transition to Operations to include deployment; operator training; payload initialization and checkout; on orbit operations and end of life operations. Responsible for assessing proposed ground system design updates and understanding all performance and spacecraft impacts due to these updates. Responsible for working with contractors developing the ground software to ensure work is on schedule and progressing. Qualifications DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a technical field such as Physics, Math, or Astronautics. Candidates with equivalent educational background and demonstrated experience will be considered. 9+ years' engineering experience with satellite ground systems. Experience with agile software development and other modern software development approaches. Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering - MBSE is used on the program as a means to manage the architecture, CONOPS and requirements. It is also used in supporting Integration with other elements of the architecture making up the end-to-end system. Candidates must have a proven ability to effectively work with a large team of Government, FPRoGand SETA contractors as well as major developmental contractors. TS/SCI with poly required.
