The MITRE Space Intelligence Systems Department is looking for a Principal System Engineer / Project Lead who wants to drive innovative solutions, thought leadership, and evidence-based recommendations so the Intelligence Community (IC) can deliver the benefits and services our Mission Partners depend on to make a positive impact in the world. Roles & Responsibilities: MITRE is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Lead with software development, data design, and architecture knowledge to lead our work with the National Reconnaissance Office's Mission Integration Directorate (MID). As Project Leader, you will work with the MID Program Offices to define impactful mission outcomes,
define stakeholder decisions to support those outcomes, make actionable recommendations, and deliver data driven technical products and prototypes.
accountable for overall direction, technical quality, resource planning, internal and external coordination, execution, and outcomes of MITRE work associated with MID.
key responsibility will be staffing the project and ensuring that the right talent is supporting the tasks, ensuring quality products, and successfully deliver the work program. Basic Qualifications: Top Secret/SCI clearance and possess or be willing to obtain a polygraph.
Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Experience in National Security Acquisitions
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
Strong interpersonal communications, including verbal and written abilities in breaking down a complex big picture into usable components; capturing requirements and design information; translating across stakeholder communities to enable effective coordination of technical and programmatic information to influence government leadership decisions; coordinating action among distributed engineering teams consisting of government and contractors.
This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week. Preferred Qualifications: TS/SCI with polygraph endorsement.
Degree in Engineering with emphasis on data engineering, or related technical field such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.
A working understanding of space systems and how they interact with ground systems.
High competency is National Security Acquisition support
A working understanding of:
Innovation Design
Acquisitions
Prototype to baseline technology insertion
Prior professional experience in the US Intelligence, Space, or Defense Community.
