Responsibilities As a Senior Space Systems Engineer, you will assist the Chief Systems Engineer, as well as lead small teams in planning, deployment, integration, test, and configuration management of space domain awareness software tools. Asa seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of systems engineering, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in imaginative and practical ways; have extensive expertise as a journey-level professional; and perform work without appreciable direction. This role will support our Intelligence Community (IC) customer. At the heart of national security, we've been embedded into this cutting-edge program for nearly a decade. You will be working in a rewarding, mission focused environment, cutting edge software design, development, and deployment, contributing to the protection and defense of national space assets. Your efforts will fundamentally change what Space Domain Awareness and Mission Protection means for our Nation. Skyfire is a Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system. Its purpose is to establish a repository of resident space objects (RSOs), find RSOs of interest, and provide data to ground operators. Located in Chantilly, VA, the Skyfire team uses sensor modeling, and systems engineering expertise to deliver this world-class SDA I&W system. This position requires a minimum of an active TS clearance. What you'll do: Assist in developing systems engineering processes for the planning, deployment, integration and test, configuration management of satellite ground station systems
Evaluate proposed architecture and engineering design changes to a prototype system
Effectively collaborate and drive communication with colleagues across teams
Create briefings for Program Status Reviews including Course of Action decision briefs
Represents the organization in developing solutions to difficult technical problems
Provides input and status to the program integrated master schedule (IMS) and assumes responsibility for program tasks
Exercises sound judgement to avoid erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure or resources.
Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical problems.Qualifications Required Qualifications: An Associates degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional four (4) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree will be considered. Must have eight (8+) years of related experience as a systems engineer
This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request- contract requires TS/SCI with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
Familiarity with cloud architectures, such as AWS and OpenStack
Self-starter with ability to work independently and with stakeholders
Experience developing and supporting system integration processes such as Configuration Management, Software Release Management, Patch Management, Change ManagementDesired Qualifications: Master's degree (or the equivalent) in a technical field
Two (2+) years of experience in the Intelligence Community with systems engineering focus
One (1+) year of experience in software or hardware integration

SISMGS Target Salary Range $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
