Job description

Tier II Network Technician will support the customer's computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; as well as, analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling. Description: The Tier II network field technician will support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices. Respond to and resolve incidents, demonstrate troubleshooting skills and communicate with the team. Complete assigned tasks within Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs). Draft and implement standard network change requests. Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment). Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory. Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process). Layer 1 network experience (CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP). Layer 2 network experience (ability to configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, applying thin and thick configs. Layer 3 network experience (subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE) Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN's, Port Security, Thin Configs). Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade and Foundry OS. Experience with Visio. Familiar with ServiceNow and Confluence. May require up to 10% COMSEC duties. Required Qualifications: Candidate must have 16 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 8 years, master's and 10 years, bachelor's and 12 years, associates and 14 years or HS diploma and 16 years. Required qualifications include: Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2. Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph required Additional required qualifications include: Available to travel up to 20% of the time. Available to work flexible hours, to include weekend support.
