DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Centurum Information Technology is seeking a highly motivated Director of Business Development to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. Work will be performed primarily in the eastern region, but will not be limited geographically; therefore, remote work is an option. The Director of Business Development will be a professional who deeply understands the needs of the military customer, especially the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. They will work closely with other Centurum business development professionals, sharing ideas and best practices. They will be responsible for building new business relationships and strengthening existing business relationships with the goal of developing and winning new business for the company. They will work closely with a first-class proposal team and play a hands-on role in the development of business opportunities through the entire life cycle. The Director of Business Development will build relationships with employees, peers, customers, and teaming partners. The following are the primary duties and responsibilities for the Director of Business Development:
- Assess and qualify current pipeline of business development activities and use understanding of pipeline metrics to build a robust BD machine that constantly seeks opportunities within existing and new customers and partners.
- Cultivate and develop customer relationships, drive new business opportunities and teaming and partnership arrangements, oversee negotiation activities, and work closely with the Corporate Proposal Development Team to ensure deliverables and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with the Centurum business development team and share information and ideas to grow the business and refine best practices.
- Work closely with Senior Management to maintain open communications across the corporation by providing regular updates on activities and issues.
- Embrace and promote the Centurum culture; be professional, direct, and decisive; and foster a culture that values leaders and promotes success and professional visibility.
- Participate in weekly pipeline review discussions with Senior Management and business development team; and perform other reporting duties as required. REQUIRED SKILLS/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE - Have a track record of hands-on business development and/or program management success, including pipeline development and management.
- Must be capable of managing IDIQ contracts and winning Task Orders.
- Prior experience with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and/or other relevant military or Government experience is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to develop a successful and strategic business development plan, with the ability to learn from others to enhance business development and capture skills.
- Current experience and relationships within the DoD C5ISR sector, NAVWAR, PEO C4I, NIWC Pacific and Atlantic, NAVSEA, NAVAIR and/or U.S. Naval Shipyards strongly preferred.
- Must be based in the Eastern US area and have a network of relevant contacts in the local defense community, though the ability to build relevant contacts and develop opportunities will be considered.
- Ability and willingness to achieve a high level security clearance; active TS+ security clearance strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Prior business development and PM leadership skills preferred, though aptitude will be considered.

Work Location/Home Office: East Coast / Chesapeake, VA This position is required to have and maintain a Secret US DoD security clearance. PREFERRED SKILLS Advanced technical or MBA degree is a strong plus; PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired. REMARKS - Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of company and Government technical, management, and contracts personnel.
