Atss has a client in Washington, D.C. looking for a Lead Naval Architect/Structural Engineer
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Days: Monday - Friday
Position Description:
seeking a Lead Naval Architect to join the Design Team. Position reports to the VP of Maritime Services.
Requirements:
responsible for ship check for existing configuration; safety evaluation and training; work item and cost estimate development; assist with shipyard inspections and required alterations; AutoCAD drawing development in company required format; design calculations and FEA for structural systems. Identification of new equipment and technologies to meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with team members for assigned projects. Perform peer review of engineering deliverables.
- Develop shipboard equipment operating instructions, manuals, and test memos.
- Develop maintenance procedures for marine equipment.
-Perform ship checks for transportation alterations, troubleshooting, modernization, and integration of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment; establish structural requirements for the shipboard installation and replacement of equipment.
- Perform calculations and development of finite element analysis models using FEMAP with NASTRAN NX to prove suitability of designs.
-Review structural drawings for completeness and conformance to the company design standards.
-Perform shipboard material readiness assessments and develop corrective action reports based upon shipboard assessments.
-Develop work items, cost estimates, drawings, and technical reports for assigned projects.
-Guide and review drawing development by AutoCAD Technicians.
-Other duties as assigned.
Education/Certification Requirements:
BACHELORS Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, or other similar engineering program.
12 years experience in the field of Naval Architecture and shipboard structural design.
Third Assistant Engineer of Steam/Motor/Gas Turbine, Unlimited Horsepower, or higher license a plus, but not required.
Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite.
