General Scope: The Manufacturing Buyer ensures the most efficient and accurate processing and documentation of transactions, with the overall goal of minimizing the total costs without impacting service levels., plus negotiates pricing; searches for alternate suppliers; handles repairs and returns; works on back order list and overdue variance list; could participate in MRO purchasing.
Position Summary:
- As a Manufacturing Buyer Level I, you will manage the day to day business relationships with suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/ volume/ delivery requirements, issue resolution, follow up on backorders, etc.
- The Manufacturing Buyer ensures accurate and timely processing of purchase orders in accordance with Plasser Americans standards.
- The Manufacturing Buyer researches items for price and verification of specifications
- The Manufacturing Buyer sources materials and suppliers as required to achieve corporate goals.
- The Manufacturing Buyer negotiates contracts to obtain material from suppliers at lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, lead time and reliability of source.
- The Manufacturing Buyer manages supplier relationships to ensure continuity of inventory receipts and services that meet the quality, service, delivery and price performance standards.
- The Manufacturing Buyer recommends changes to supplier base as well as supplier consolidation.
- The Manufacturing Buyer prepares and follows up on orders to expedite delivery.
- The Manufacturing Buyer resolves shipping/receiving and invoice discrepancies. May verify invoices, handle repair and returns, and expedite items on Customer Back order list and overdue variance list.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor degree (B.A or B.S.) in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
Knowledge: Incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Minimum of three+ years buyer experience in a manufacturing organization.
- Comprehensive understanding of purchasing concepts and procedures.
- Proven, demonstrated understanding of materials and supply chain management functions.
Skills: Incumbent must demonstrate or participate in internal/external training programs to obtain the following skills:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common legal documents and credit applications.
- Ability to effectively present information to management
- Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write business letters and memos.
- Must have working knowledge of PC's, Internet usage and e-mail.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must have working knowledge of PC's, Internet usage, e-mail and working experience with ERP-LX
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Effective communication, both written and verbal.
