JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of PATHS' Behavioral Health Program Director, the clinician will provide integrated behavioral health services as part of patients' care team alongside medical providers. These outpatient services will include individual and group sessions to address a wide range of behavioral health issues, including substance abuse.
Education and/or experience
• Master's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work required.
• Active LCSW license in Virginia.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their role in the treatment of mental illness preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with chronic medical conditions and concurrent mental health issues preferred.
Competencies
• Must possess skills in providing individual and group counseling to adults.
• Must possess clinical evaluation and crisis intervention skills.
• Must possess skills in providing case management and linking individuals with a wide variety of community services.
• Must possess skills necessary to establish and maintain therapeutic relationship with individuals.
• Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with management and co-workers to carry out duties in a positive manner.
• Ability to organize duties and function independently under Coordinator's guidance.
• Ability to compose effective, professional correspondence and thorough comprehensive treatment summary reports.
Essential Functions

1. Provides individual counseling and crisis intervention to adults who are experiencing psychological or adjustment difficulties.
2. Provides group-counseling programs.
3. Meets with staff of partner agencies in order to exchange information, provide education and offer consultation re: treatment of clinic patients with mental health issues.
4. Provides clinical evaluations to determine mental status and substance use disorders, and treatability of outpatient individuals.
5. Facilitates linkage with crisis/emergency services when needed.
6. Provides general behavioral health case management to outpatient individuals.
7. Responds to partner agencies requests for clinical input, assessment, and education on behavioral health problems and issues as these may affect their individuals.
8. Provides general consultation to community agencies, which includes providing training, education to area groups, parents, teachers, and other community interest groups who desire improved skills in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.
9. Maintains individual records, routine correspondence, and daily statistical forms within the time frames set by the supervisor.
10. Maintains confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) as outlined in the Confidentiality Agreement.
11. Attends and participates in administrative staff meetings.
12. Performs other clinical and/or administrative assignments as assigned by the supervisor.
13. Provides clinical outpatient services to children and adolescents when needed.
14. Ability to provide outpatient services in a maximum of 30 minutes per individual treated
