Job description
Position Summary
Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who will direct the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Maintains credentialing/certification/licensure and education/competency files of staff and is accountable for staff compliance.
Interprets policies and procedures; identify non-compliance and takes appropriate actions.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education
Graduate from a program in nursing required
Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of degree, CNO may require degree completed within a certain time frame.
Master's degree preferred
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure appropriateness and continuity of care for the patients of Sovah Health Danville.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association (AHA) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) required or must be obtained within first 6 months of employment
Licenses:
Current RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact State required
Minimum Work Experience
Two (2) years' of experience as a Manager/Director in a hospital required
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as RN in emergency department required
