Summary The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) plays a critical role in supporting the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in managing and maintaining the security of classified information, personnel, and physical assets within the facility. The AFSO ensures compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) NISPOM Rule 32 CFR Part 117 , government regulations and company policies . Primary tasks include processing personnel security clearances, visit authorization requests , conducting security briefings and annual security education and training . Responsibilities Security Program Management: Assist the FSO in implementing and managing the facility's security program in accordance with NISPOM Rule 32 CFR Part 117 and other relevant regulations. Assist with conducting self-inspections, and adverse reporting requirements Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and guidelines. Conduct regular security inspections and audits to ensure compliance with security standards. Support the development and execution of security education and training programs for all personnel. Personnel Security: Initiate Background Investigations (BI's) and CV Updates using current systems of record (i.e., DISS and NBIS), submit Fingerprints ( Fieldprint and SWFT). Conduct security briefings and f oreign t ravel briefings as required . T rack completion of initial and annual refresher security training . Process Common Access Cards (CAC) and other badge requests . Document Control: Assist in the management and safeguarding of classified documents and materials. Maintain control of classified and unclassified documents through accurate record-keeping, marking, and destruction in accordance with applicable regulations. Conduct regular document audits and inventories Incident Response and Reporting: Assist in the investigation and reporting of security incidents, violations, and suspicious activities. Prepare and submit required reports to government agencies and company management promptly. Support the FSO in developing corrective action plans and implementing necessary changes to prevent future incidents. Compliance and Liaison: Maintain knowledge of relevant government regulations, directives, and policies related to industrial security. Act as a liaison with government agencies, customers, and contractors on security-related matters. Assist in preparing for and participating in government inspections and audits. Assist with managing facility profiles, submitting changed conditions packages, and Sponsorship packages . Assist with reviewing, implementing, and issuing DD254 ' s . Other Duties: Perform other security-related duties as assigned by the FSO. Stay current with industry best practices and emerging security technologies. Maintain a relationship with multiple DoD Agency Representative(s), DCSA (Defense Counterintelligence & Security Agency) Representative(s), prime contractor, and subcontractor FSO's . Qualifications Bachelor's degree in security management, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered . Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial security in a government contracting environment. Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance required . If current Clearance is Secret, must have the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance. Completion of required security training courses (e.g., FSO Program Management for Non-Possessing Facilities). Certifications such as ISP (Industrial Security Professional) are a plus. Strong understanding of NISPOM and other relevant government regulations. Proficient in using security management systems such as DISS, eApp , NBIS, NISS , and SIMS . Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure. High level of integrity and confidentiality.
