Job description

Inova L.J. Children's Hospital is looking for a Clinical Nurse Educator to join our pediatric intensive care unit. Inova's PICU is the only one of its kind in Northern Virginia. Our multi-specialty level I unit provides advanced technology and intensive care for critically ill and injured patients from birth to age 21. The unit has earned recognition for the care given to our region's most fragile children, including the AACCN Beacon Silver Award for Pediatric Critical Care Excellence 2016 - 2019.

In this role you will:
Implement Inova Health System programs for staff to achieve patient care and outcome standards, such as core measures, Magnet standards and patient satisfaction.
Utilize system strategies and tools to assess competence of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
Plan and implement educational activities to support individual development and organizational goals.
Inform appropriate nursing leaders when staff is unable to successfully complete, or are noncompliant with, required competencies.
Integrate theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new employees and experienced staff.
Work with teams to synthesize data about quality and safety measures which lead to needed improvements in standards of care by developing, revising and implementing policies, procedures and protocols.
Collaborate with clinicians to ensure practice is evidence based and identifies, reviews and applies evidence to guidelines and standards for patient care.
Incorporate best practices and research into educational programs while analyzing quality and effectiveness of educational programs.

Additional Requirements:
Work schedule: Monday-Friday, Day shift
Education: Relevant Masters Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience : Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in clinical nursing in designated specialty - PICU
License and Certification: RN licensed, or eligible to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia, BLS for healthcare provider from the American Heart Association
Clinical Nurse educator experience highly preferred
