Job Description:

HITT seeks a creative, strategic, and experienced Director of Communications to join the Marketing team at Headquarters. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Communication, this team leadership position oversees multiple direct reports. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience, a passion for using strategic communications to influence brand and culture, and a proven track record of team leadership. They are a creative storyteller with the strategic savvy to advance HITT's brand, are decisive and confident, and thrive in an entrepreneurial culture and fast-paced environment.

The Director of Communication sets the firm's communication strategy, develops and leads omni-channel campaigns, and ensures collaboration across MarComm functions to achieve marketing goals. They collaborate with in-house creative, agencies, and other functional leaders to orchestrate end-to-end marketing strategies for key initiatives and campaign launches. The Director acts as a conduit between the brand, the creative team, digital marketing, external and internal communications to create an incredible team member and client experience. They ensure flawless execution of corporate messaging, both internally and externally.

They must have the courage to lead in the face of ambiguity and bring communications to the table at both strategic and tactical levels.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing campaign management - Collaborate with brand team leaders to lead the ideation, visualization, development, and execution of annual marketing campaigns in support of the firm's marketing plan and strategic vision. Collaborate with marketing team members to guide content development, messaging, and strategy for the campaign, and ultimately be responsible for managing the execution. Collaborate with marketing/branding team leaders to develop corporate messaging and ensure implementation across all platforms. Ensure the content of the corporate website, social medial channels, and other collateral align and support the marketing strategy.

  • Advertising - Contribute to the advertising strategy to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging throughout the organization and external outlets.

  • Communications content planning and development - Envision content plans annually and in further detail. Develop strategic marketing content from technical experts and seek channels to communicate externally through publications, speaking engagements, roundtable discussions, webinars, etc.

  • Internal communications - Curate and develop content and messaging for multi-channel internal communications. Develop process and guidelines for communicating change to employees; devise tools, timing, and recommended information shares to leadership to improve the flow of consistent and well-developed information for our employees. Measure effectiveness and devise systems to ensure accountability.

  • Crisis and high stakes communications - Manage the crisis communications process and execution, working closely with risk management, operations, and executive leadership. Partner with the safety team to develop and implement a strategy for creating effective and impactful safety and risk mitigation communications for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Executive communications - Develop relationships with key internal partners such as operations executives, sector and regional leaders, and corporate resources senior leadership.

  • Corporate contributions - Develop and execute corporate initiatives, identifying innovative approaches and managing KPIs to increase effectiveness. Act as a brand ambassador for the firm, representing HITT in industry and professional organizations and events.

  • Team development - Recruit, retain, and manage a team of communication professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to drive their professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or English is required

  • 10+ years of experience in increasing roles of responsibility in marketing, branding, communications, or PR (or a combination thereof) is required

  • Experience in B2B or professional services is required; experience in the AEC field or agency setting is a plus

  • Experience managing teams in a corporate environment is required

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, SharePoint, email automation, social media, and content management systems (Drupal / WordPress) is required. Experience using CRM Systems (especially Microsoft Dynamics) is a plus.

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing process, creating efficiencies, and identifying KPIs to prove ROI is required

  • Budget development / management experience is desirable

  • Proven experience developing and executing MarComm strategies and campaigns is required

  • Experience managing crisis communications and media relations is required

  • Excellent writing, communication, and public speaking skills are required

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex projects across a variety of functions
