ABOUT THIS ROLE St. Michael's Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Human Subjects Research Scientistto join our team and work directly with our Department of Defense (DoD) client. This client-facing position will be advising and implementing sound Human Research Policy. You will be a key advisor to the Chief Medical Officer of a large military command organization. Our core value of Commitment to Achieve Excellence will be paramount to this role as you will be applying research ethics support to evaluate and minimize risk to human subjects during command supported and conducted research. LOCATION Falls Church, VA (Hybrid work schedule) This position is contingent upon the award of the government contract. WHO YOU ARE Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance Bachelor's degree in science or technology; (3+ years of relevant additional experience will be considered in lieu of education) Minimum of 2 years' experience in providing any combination of Medical and Non-Medical Human Subjects Research project or program support in the following areas: Human subjects research regulation and policy analysis Human subjects research regulatory compliance Publishing formal Human subjects research guidance/interpretation of regulation and policy governing human subjects research protection Developing and implementing human subjects research protection programs in a government or academic institution Employing scientific literature search automation tools, i.e. Lexis-Nexis Database or entering program and project materials into DoD databases. Highly organized and systematic Effective written and verbal communication skills Federal experience is preferred PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Assess Department of Navy (DON) commands, institutions, and extramural collaborators for compliance with applicable Federal regulations, DoD instructions, and DON instructions regarding Navy and Marine Corps research. Continually develop and maintain DON Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) guidance documentation of DON HRPP policies and procedures. Conduct training on emerging issues and changes to regulatory requirements. Providing administrative, program management and additional support on tasks such as analysis, budget, travel, and information system support WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT? What makes us different?
