Job description

Duties Works with other division members on projects and tasks supporting the cybersecurity, traditional security, and information management (INFOSEC) for the command. Serves in the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) G-6, Cyber Security Division (CSD), performing duties as an Information Assurance Manager (IAM), Information Assurance Technician (IAT), and an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). Supports programs and systems necessary for customers to operate and interface with local and enterprise level services. Assists in the identification and implementation of INFOSEC and C4IM support requirements through local analysis, independent research, and review of studies received through local and external channels. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent (or Selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the IAM-I required certification/recertification for this position. Incumbent (or Selectee) is to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the IAT-II certification/recertification as necessary for this position. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 5% of the time. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. Position requires the incumbent to routinely prepare oral presentations and written correspondence for various customers including senior leaders. You will be required to provide proof of U.S Citizenship. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience which includes: 1) executing Information Technology (IT) policies and procedures; 2) managing user accounts and permissions; 3) managing and implements support such as information assurance vulnerabilities, technical guidelines, system patching and security incidents within the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Basic Requirements for Information Technology Specialist (Information Security) This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience. Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. 1. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
