Job description
Job Description: The Technical Operations Advisor provides subject matter expertise and advises government customer on strategic use of existing communications systems and applications, including Team Awareness Kit (TAK) and WAVE, as well as future systems and applications to effectively solve operational needs. Coordinates expert-level system/application usage in response to real world issues and leads and trains teams in applying technical resources as required. Identifies gaps, assesses current technical capabilities, identifies new technologies/systems, and makes recommendations to the customer to better support mission needs. Responsibilities: Act as primary interface with government on technical operations involving communication systems and applications (TAK, WAVE, etc.) Apply expert-level communication systems and applications operational knowledge to maximize utilization and efficiencies Serve as technical liaison between customer and technical resources for supported communications systems and applications to implement new features and capabilities Provide tactical advice and support for world event communications and activities Perform various team management and coordination functions across all aspects of technical operations Develop technical training materials, and train individuals and teams on operational use of communications systems and applications (TAK, WAVE, etc.) and other integrated applications Act as liaison between internal and external operational teams Coordinate with personnel to capture input for after-action reviews (AARs) and lessons learned, and develop action plans for improvement and/or implementation Travel to OCONUS locations, and work with minimal supervision in support of government objectives Actively participate with TAK Product Center (TPC) and share relevant information with the customer Work with other internal organizations to better understand system capabilities, data and information sharing, etc. and make recommendations for integration/sharing to better support mission needs Support customer in developing operational need statements Coordinate with external entities (TAK Federation) for information sharing to support operational needs Develop and maintain a Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for communications systems and applications Working with technical resources, develop test plans and scenarios for testing system and application upgrades and new capabilities prior to deployment Develop a plan and process for communicating system changes, training, and new technologies to maximize utilization of communications systems and applications to support operational needs Participate in meetings and special projects as required Requirements Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience 10+ years of military operations experience as S3 operations officer or S3 noncommissioned officer 10+ years of proven hands-on TAK experience involving special activities or strategic military operations Extensive operational intelligence experience Highly proficient in COP (common operating picture) methodologies and techniques Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills Capable of climbing ladders, and lifting and moving equipment up to 50 pounds Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as job duties demand Must be willing/able to deploy OCONUS to a hostile country, if required 25% travel Equal Opportunity All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
