Job description

Requires US Citizenship Employment Term and Type: Part time, non exempt Required Security Clearance: TS Required Education: Bachelor degree in computer science,electronic engineering (or 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree) Job Description Responsible for project fiber optics network infrastructure architecture design. Addresses essential details such as conceptualizing, planning, installation, training and sustainment of the approved design solution. Is responsible for creating and updating documentation and drawings for inside and outside plant in collaboration with stakeholders. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Engagement with customer stakeholders to collect and validate requirements. Conduct end-to-end technical design planning Provide data & voice fiber optic infrastructure systems analysis, security, data center planning & design Provide impact analysis and design modifications to existing systems to support new solutions Review construction drawings to identify integration risks and opportunities Develop specifications for interfaces from existing to new systems Provide schedules, budgets and project criteria for physical design and layouts. Provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimations of a project's level of effort and cost to complete Provide detailed Master Equipment List (MEL) to meet project design requirements Coordinate directly with vendors for quotes & cost estimates Create, inform, organize and maintain all revisions and final as-built fiber optic drawings Create and evaluate reports, drawings, system description documents (SDD) and calculations Provide quality standards and training to operational customer teams Advise project teams of technology standard requirements, methodology and processes Enable short & long term architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolio Participate in proof of concepts to assist in defining and enabling technology strategy Apply standards to ensure compatibility and integration of multi-vendor platforms Maintain a common documentation library of standardized procedures and configurations Required Qualifications B.S in computer systems engineering, electronics engineering, computer science or related field (10+ years of relevant work experience is also acceptable) Knowledge & experience with Fiber Optic data center network infrastructure Ability to write architectural design documents and accurately review designs provided by others Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs Must have a thorough knowledge of computer network technology, design and product implementation Possesses excellent management, organizational and strong written and oral communications Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment and appropriately prioritize tasks, and keep abreast of the latest technology Capability to work with people in different time zones Desired Qualifications CFOS/D (Certified Fiber Optic Specialist in Network Design) CFOS/DC (Certified Fiber Optic Specialist in Data Center Cabling) Education Requirements Required Education: Bachelor degree Physical and Environmental Conditions Requires Sitting (66%), Standing (15%), Walking (15%), Near Acuity (100%), Speaking (100%), Listening (100%), Sight (100%), Use of fingers and hands (100%) Travel 20% CONUS. 5% OCONUS This position description is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with this job.
