Position Title: Data Scientist (SME)

Location: Remote (100%)

Duration: Fulltime

Note: US Citizenship is contractually required for this role

The Data Scientist will serve as a subject matter expert with demonstrated experience in complex technology implementation and data analytics projects. This role requires leadership of moderate-sized data science teams and cross-functional knowledge of business operations and development. The Data Scientist will provide expert technical knowledge, including analysis of highly specialized applications, IT systems analysis, system design, and integration. They will offer advisory services on exceptionally complex problems requiring deep subject matter expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Apply advanced mathematical principles and methods, as well as specialized knowledge, to fuse and analyze data from multiple IT systems, addressing highly complex and narrowly defined problems.

Demonstrate expertise in pattern recognition techniques across large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sets to automate and optimize data wrangling processes (extraction, transformation, cleaning, normalization, and organization) from disparate sources.

Provide technical expertise in data models, data mining, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques.

Develop and optimize complex queries using Structured Query Language (SQL), including joins, subqueries, aggregation, indices, common table expressions, and query optimization.

Leverage development experience in data manipulation and statistics using tools such as Python, R, SAS, Tableau, and AWS.

Demonstrate experience in both small and large-scale data environments, with a clear understanding of the trade-offs involved in scaling algorithms for different environments.

Collaborate on system integration and provide implementation advice on specialized IT systems.

Have a working knowledge of federal grant-making policies, procedures, and administration.

Preferred Skills:

Ability to code and debug stored procedures is desirable.

Qualifications:

A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in planning, conducting, and participating in performance requirements.

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Substitution Criteria:

Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in the areas described above and the performance requirements.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
