We are seeking a motivated and detailed oriented Junior Network Security Engineer to join our security operations team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of information security principles and practices, a solid foundation in network security, effective communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a desire to grow in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and implementation of secure network architecture solutions.
Assist in the deployment and maintenance of security infrastructure components, such intrusion detection, traffic analysis, and logging systems.
Collaborate on design, implementation, and maintenance of security controls to protect against cyber threats, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint security solutions.
Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and potential threats.
Perform technical verification and validation of network security requirements, evaluate, and recommend alternative solutions.
Conduct basic penetration testing of network systems.
Respond to network security incidents and assist in incident investigations.
Provide technical support for network security-related issues.
Remain up to date on the latest network security trends and technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, network engineering, cybersecurity engineering or related field (or equivalent experience in related field)
2-3 years' experience as a cybersecurity network engineer (or similar)
Understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and security products (e.g., firewalls, IPSec, IDS/IPS)
Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrate knowledge of Linux and Windows systems.
Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Salt, Ansible, Puppet)
Knowledge of hypervisors, virtualization technology, and virtual desktop infrastructure
Knowledge of Virtual Machines (VMs), VM capabilities, and containers
Possess basic scripting skills, such as Bash, Python or PowerShell.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
One or more of the following certifications: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, Security 5, SSCP, or equivalent.
