Position Overview: Edgesource is seeking a Data Scientist to provide support to directly assist the Sponsor program manager with operational support, database support, collaboration with other operational teams, briefing customers, and development and execution of strategy for complex data science technical solutions that are widely used and relied upon. The work will be performed within a team environment. The Sponsor needs polished skills in concept development and execution while managing a moderate, fast-paced workload. This position requires all work be performed full-time onsite at the client location in the Northern Virginia area. All candidates must possess a TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance to qualify . Key Responsibilities: Use industry best practice for data analysis over complex data Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, project managers, and other engineers Collaborate with a variety of customers and contractors, which may include technical consultation, meeting coordination and support (e.g., TEMs), and preparation/support of technical briefings. Provide input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation. Analyze and exploit datasets in order to inform operational design and testing. Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan the development of new testing projects and modifications of an existing one. Analyze user needs and requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and resource constraints. Maintain a work history document, documenting SOPs and code written so others can understand the program. Consult with managerial and team personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes. Build sustainable relationships of trust through timely, open and interactive communication. Required Qualifications: Possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance. Demonstrated experience working in a team environment. Demonstrated experience briefing technical topics to a non-technical audience. Demonstrated experience in strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in strong leadership ability and experience juggling competing priorities. Demonstrated experience working with data sets from across the Sponsor's organization including performing analytics that combine mission data sets to advance AI/ML services. Demonstrated experience with the Sponsor's datasets, to include unstructured, structured, and semi-structured datasets. Demonstrated experience with practical knowledge of mobile phone hardware, mobile operating systems (Android/iOS), software (commercial, FOSS, and GOTS), and security mechanisms. Demonstrated experience with Amazon EC2, S3, or similar services. Knowledge and understanding of distributed computing concepts. Experience with database, workflow and orchestration frameworks preferred (e.g. SQL, Kafka; NiFi, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.). Big Data analytics experience. Strong background in engineering, process data management, or service management in a medium size complex technology environment. Previous experience with data modeling for graphs. Experience in complex analysis of processes and tools. Experience facilitating gathering input from subject matter experts. Excellent understanding of ML, NLP and statistical methodologies. Ability to test ideas and adapt methods quickly end to end from data extraction to implementation and validation. Experience leading project work focused on a specific process area. Strong planning, time management and organizational skills. Good team player / self-starter with the ability to work using own initiative. Desired Qualifications (NOT REQUIRED): Experience with classification algorithms, recommendation systems and relevance evaluation methodologies. Demonstrated experience with the Sponsor's security governance procedures. Demonstrated experience collaborating with the Sponsor's security managers. Demonstrated experience with the Sponsor's systems and networks. Demonstrated experience with Windows system scripting technologies (JavaScript, Visual Basic Scripting). Experience supporting the development of intelligence products from varied, multi-source, and large data sources. Experience developing scripts, procedures, and processes for extracting and processing data using existing tools and capabilities to derive data-driven analytic insights to support mission requirements. Knowledge of containerized deployment, including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift. Ability to learn new programming languages. Demonstrated experience as a supervisor or team leader.
