Job Title: Python Specialized Server Systems Administrator
Location: McLean, Virginia This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact program, leveraging both your systems administration and Python programming skills to drive automation and efficiency across a secure, mission-critical environment. Position Overview: Our client is seeking a skilled Python Specialized Server Systems Administrator to join the Program Management Team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in automating systems administration processes, ensuring the seamless operation of both Linux and Windows-based servers, and maintaining a secure, high-performance infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and manage Linux and Windows servers to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
• Identify and virtualize servers, create and maintain test environments, and manage physical/virtual infrastructure as part of IT systems administration.
• Perform system updates, patches, and DISA STIG implementations to maintain a secure and stable environment.
• Configure and manage WSUS/SCCM for patching and application management.
• Implement and enforce security best practices, including firewall configurations, intrusion detection, and access control measures.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations for improved efficiency.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of Linux and Windows infrastructure, including processes, procedures, and guidelines.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex technical issues within the Linux and Windows environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions that align with business requirements.
• Manage user accounts and groups, including centralized directory authentication.
• Monitor system and storage utilization to ensure efficient resource allocation.
• Support SQL database management for mission-critical applications, including lifecycle maintenance, reporting, error correction, upgrades, and user training.
• Offer technical guidance and support to team members as needed.
• Leverage Python programming skills for automation and application development. Security Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FS) Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Linux or Windows system administration, preferably in large-scale environments.
• Proficiency in Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian.
• Expertise in Linux server virtualization technologies, including KVM, VMware, and Xen.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7.x, 8.x, 9.x) is required.
• Proficiency in Windows server operating systems, including Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019.
• Familiarity with Linux storage management tools, such as LVM, RAID, and SAN/NAS.
• Experience with Linux security best practices and tools, including SELinux, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Familiarity with Windows storage management, including RAID, SAN, and NAS.
• Strong understanding of security best practices and tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and access controls.
• Proficiency in Python programming for system automation and application development.
• A combination of education and experience totaling 12 years (e.g., High School and 12 years of work experience, Associate's degree and 10 years, Bachelor's degree and 8 years, Master's degree and 6 years, or PhD and 4 years). What We Offer:
