Job description
Summary: Advanced Systems Technology Company (ATSC) has an opportunity for a Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) Engineer, to play a critical role in developing and implementing technologies to detect, identify, track, and neutralize unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones. Key Responsibilities: Work at the forefront of defense and security, safeguarding airspace integrity and protecting critical infrastructure from potential threats posed by rogue drones.
Design, develop, and evaluate innovative CUAS technologies, including sensors, radar systems, electro-optical systems, and communication systems, to enhance detection and tracking capabilities of unauthorized UAVs.
Integrate CUAS solutions into existing defense systems or critical infrastructure facilities, ensuring seamless interoperability and effectiveness in detecting and neutralizing unauthorized drones.
Conduct comprehensive testing and evaluation of CUAS technologies to validate performance metrics such as detection range, accuracy, false alarm rates, and response time under various operational scenarios and environmental conditions.
Stay abreast of emerging threats and tactics employed by malicious actors using drones for nefarious purposes. Analyze threat intelligence data to anticipate and mitigate potential UAV threats effectively.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines governing the use of CUAS technologies, including legal considerations related to airspace regulations, privacy concerns, and rules of engagement.
Develop training and technical support documentation and collaterals. May also be called upon to provide technical training on the system to end-users, including military personnel, law enforcement agencies, and security professionals, on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CUAS systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and industry partners to identify opportunities for advancing CUAS capabilities through research and development initiatives, exploring emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous systems.
Maintain accurate documentation of CUAS system configurations, operational procedures, test results, and incident reports. Generate regular status reports and technical documentation for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with Bachelor's degree in technical field and minimum of five (5) years of Systems Engineering or degree Masters/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field and 3 or more years of experience or nine (9) years of Systems related experience without degree.
Proven experience in developing and implementing CUAS technologies, preferably in a defense or security-related environment.
Proficiency in software development languages (e.g., C/C++, Python) and familiarity with signal processing algorithms.
Strong understanding of radar principles, electronic warfare (EW) techniques, and RF spectrum analysis.
Knowledge of UAV operations, capabilities, and vulnerabilities is highly desirable.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. Physical Demands & Work Environment Work is typically performed in an office setting with occasional field work.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
Must have the ability to lift 15-25 pounds.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
