Job description

MBA is hiring five full-time resources to join our Software Process Management (SPM) Team in a customer work environment in Merrifield, VA. The SPM Team supports our client, Engineering Systems (ES) of the US Postal Service. SPM is a dedicated team that maintains the ES software development life cycle (SDLC) process on new mail process equipment (MPE) / mail handling equipment (MHE) / support systems (SS) and maintenance releases on existing equipment. We are looking to augment the existing team with a variety of talented resources.
The SPM Team is responsible for the ES software release process and performs technical reviews of application software development for MPE, MHE, and SS. Within the SDLC process, SPM performs configuration management, independent verification and validation, as well as software and system test activities tasks to support and participate in the release process. The USPS ES organization designs and develops MPE/MHE, including integration of the respective support systems/subsystems for the equipment. The automation processing equipment consists of a combination of hardware, controls systems (operational technology, OT), software applications, databases, and Web applications in a combination of distributed and centralized environments. The current SDLC includes legacy Waterfall and hybrid Waterfall-Agile processes, with most development teams still using the Waterfall process. The SDLC tools in place for the SDLC process are customized using MicroFocus Serena Business Management (SBM) and Dimensions applications, and the ES Web site (reports and training documents). The SPM Team supports and manages these systems. SPM's hybrid-Agile process includes VersionOne and ALM Enterprise applications and customized hybrid-Agile process steps in the SBM application. The Technical Writer will participate in SDLC documentation that support mail processing and handling equipment.
Essential Functions: Writes a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses.
Involved in the gathering of information and requirements from end users for presentation in technical documents.
Responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Has demonstrated knowledge of use of style guides, templates, and writing guidelines.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.
May lead and direct the work of others.
Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in area of specialty (Schools and degree programs must be listed as US Accredited by a US board of accreditation such as ABET).
At least 6 years of relevant experience.
Experience using MS Office Suite software (Word, Excel, and Access) and specialized software programs. Additional Requirements:
Candidate must be able to sit, stand and work at a computer for prolonged periods.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Ability to work flexible hours when needed.
