Job description

Duties You will be responsible for working with, training, and providing technical instructions to lower graded personnel. You will relay assignments and instructions from the supervisor to the workers and determine which assignments can be done concurrently and which must be delayed; as well as setting deadlines and priorities. You will check work upon completion to determine the supervisor's instructions have been followed. You will receive, handle, store, and issue HAZMAT in accordance with prescribed procedures. You will operate various types of Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) to include forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated high rise stacker lists. You will operate a pick-up having a gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. You must be able to obtain and maintain proper licensing as well as a government vehicle operator permit as determined by employer with HAZMAT certification to transport hazardous material. You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the work of a Materials Handler Leader, as demonstrated by experience, working under normal supervision mentoring employees to receive, handle, store and issue materials, including HAZMAT, in accordance with the prescribed procedures; conducting inventories to determine the basis for over, short, or misplaced items.; conducting periodic location surveys / inspections in accordance with published instructions; ensuring all items transported and/or stored have proper material identification labels to include material information, dates, categories, and type of material; preparing issue, receipt and inventory documents; update automated supply information data management systems.
