Job description

Duties You will write reports documenting inspection or investigation procedures used, actions taken, and corrections made to verify acceptance of material and equipment. You will brief management on progress of quality assurance (QA) assignments and potential issues. You will conduct quality inspections of equipment to prevent problems with equipment operation and performance. You will oversee inspection procedures to verify compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations. You will perform nondestructive testing (NDT) inspection to validate product acceptability. You will advise on quality assurance (QA) issues relating to the verification of materials, products, processes, or documentation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This is a bargaining unit position. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Level III NDT certification including Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrate, Visual and Dimensional disciplines. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport. This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Providing program administrative oversight, monitoring and using analytical methods and techniques to ensure and manage each discipline for program compliance; 2) Performing inspections, monitoring, auditing, evaluating, and maintaining Quality Characteristics Lists and on-site technical surveillance over complex manufacturing operations required in the prototyping, production, repair, assembly, disassembly, overhaul, alignment, and test of ALRE systems and components; 3) Ensuring the quality and reliability in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) catapult and arresting gear system maintenance and overhauling processes aboard aircraft carriers, air capable ships and shore facilities; 4) Collecting internally and externally generated data for analysis to determine the adequacy of quality operations, detect program weaknesses, predict and report major causes of failure, and make corrective recommendations to senior management; 5) Performing Visual Test (VT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), and Magnetic Particle (MT) inspections in accordance with NAVSEA TECHNICAL PUBLICATON.
