Position Overview The Financial Analyst I shall demonstrate experience and knowledge of DoD accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have intermediate skills with excel; knowledge with storing, presenting, processing, and analyzing data in excel. This position requires the ability to perform analysis of financial data and provide the government analysis with recommendations. Responsibilities Perform managerial accounting roles and responsibilities, audit coordination, and the full range of budget reviews and analysis functions using various accounting and financial systems, both internal and external to the Command.
Ensures financial transactions are supported with proper documentation and in accordance with policy and internal control practices.
Perform complex audits on a variety of programs and assess efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with programs laws, regulations and provisions.
Provides audit support and risk assessment responsibilities as follows:
Explain the purpose and procedures for audits being conducted and answer any questions.
Provides assistance during the application phase of highly complex audits in areas of broad scope and mission impact to cross-organizational or functional lines.
Study available background material to gain program information and discover solutions.
Study materials that include very broad government guidelines or policy statements that require an in-depth knowledge and interpretation of government auditing principles.
Perform survey work, interviews, computer assisted, statistical analysis, and questionnaires to identify potential operating/financial management problems.
Audits automated accounting and financial systems and identifies the need for changes to enhance system capability to track and report financial events and operational data used by local management.
Review operating procedures and management practices of auditing activities.
Conducting follow-ups of external and internal audits in response to accounting and audit recommendations.
Consulting with management representatives to furnish accounting, operational, logistical, and/or financial findings and provide assistance to solve problems and clarify objectives.
Employ operational requirements prescribed by higher authority and meeting management needs involving accounting, financial management, and operational (accountability) requirements.
Complete analytical testing on financial transactions and program execution.
Education and Minimum Qualifications Must have an active Public Trust background check.
Must have a US Citizenship
Bachelor's degree with at least 2-3 years of federal government financial experience with at least 24 (twenty-four) hours of accounting related courses is required.
Prior government contracting or DoD/Military experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Written and Oral Communication, and 4) Problem Solving.
