Job description

Duties You will provide support to network switches, routers and peripherals; to include installation, configuration, problem solving/resolution, training and management. You will apply broad knowledge of information assurance processes and procedures and the principles and methodologies of IT related technologies. You will apply expert knowledge of network architecture to effectively accomplish duties and responsibilities in effort to achieve established objectives, priorities, and deadlines. You will independently plan projects, executes tasks, and keep leadership informed of significant developments. You will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) responsible for all required coordination and support for network architectures. You will manage connectivity and equipment for Local Area Network (LAN), Campus Area Network (CAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) connections on multiple security domains for the command. You will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) providing assistance to customers on all areas of IT and communications requirements. You will conduct IT research, recommend IT solutions, budget IT resources, plan and execute the implementation of recommended technology solutions. You will serve as the network representative for the Configuration Control Board (CCB). You will serve as the senior WAN/Comms technician representing the command at USMC and community meetings. You will participate in meetings and working groups to discuss changes or emerging developments impacting command network capabilities. You will work with other IT professionals to coordinate efforts and resolve non-routine issues. changes. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Providing hands-on expert support for the planning and delivery of networking administration and engineering for command/enterprise information technology (IT) infrastructure. Planning, designing, installing and performing operational testing/troubleshooting; conducting daily operation/preventative maintenance of all associated hardware/software including configuration management, installation of required peripherals devices, and software patches or upgrades. Applying expert information technology (IT) support in the planning and management of network communications resources including analog, digital, encrypted, voice over IP (VoIP), satellite technology, standard and desktop video teleconference (VTC). Additional information This position is designated as a Cyber Workforce position in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) primary work role of (441) and, as a condition of employment, the incumbent of the position is required to maintain qualifications in accordance with DON Cyber Workforce Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2. This designation requires: The incumbent participate in continuous learning (CL) program as described in SECNAVINST 5239.20A and SECNAV M-5239.2. An annual 20 hour minimum of Cyber Workforce related continuous learning must be documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor. The incumbent must obtain the required credentials within 12 months of appointment and maintain credentials as described in SECNAV M-5231.2 for DCWF role of 441 (Network Operations Specialist ) - Proficiency level (Intermediate).
